VINE

The VINE Wine Boutique Bar & Café opened in the West Lake area of Hanoi in 2003 with 40 seats and was quickly recognized by Vietnamese and international press as one of the best wine and dining destinations in Vietnam. Six months later, VINE expanded to 90 seats, tripled the kitchen facilities and added VINE Annex for private functions.

Setting VINE apart are its multi-year award-winning wine list and internationally influenced cuisine from VINE international and Vietnamese Chefs. The extensive menu features comfort foods and fine dining options, offering something for everyone in a variety of price ranges.

In addition to exceptional food and wine, VINE has the best drink list in Vietnam with hundreds of single malt Scotches, grappas, vintaged Bas Armagnacs, the world’s highest rated Cognacs, and over 75 of the latest and greatest 100% authentic Cuban cigars.

The space contains a private Cellar, non-smoking rooms, a Cigar Lounge mischievously named The Office, and two cozy bars to meet and mingle with local expatriates, diplomats, Vietnamese and tourists coming from as far as Chicago or Cape Town, all of whom share a love for fine food and wine.

VINE Boutique Bar and Café sets a remarkably high standard for quality dining and warm friendly service, and is one of the few hospitality ventures in the world to be certified for both ISO 9001 for quality management and ISO 22000.

WINE & DRINKS

VINE has a selection of over 1,000 wines from around the world, including California, Washington and Oregon States. Notable first growth and hand-picked wines are imported from France, Italy, Spain, Chile, Australia, South Africa, Argentina, Austria, Portugal, New Zealand, Hungary and Vietnam. These renowned wines make up the largest selection of wines in Vietnam and are displayed on VINE’s signature wall of wine and in the cellar. All wines are stored in ideal conditions and temperatures in VINE wine keepers to ensure they retain maximum quality and age gracefully.

The concept, menus, wine, beverage and cigar lists were created by VINE wine and cigar experts and the wine list has brought VINE Wine Boutique Bar & Café the Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator Magazine four times.

THE FOOD

VINE’s food is an amalgam of international cuisines with ingredients imported from around the world. It has received acclaim and awards for both menu variety and food and preparation quality. This excellence is the result of a great working of VINE international and Vietnamese Chefs, Vietnam’s most highly regarded chefs.

The eclectic menu includes Prime US and Canadian steaks as well as 9 star Wayghu beef. Asian-inspired dishes, pastas, salads, Montreal-style pizza and finer delicacies such as live Tasmanian oysters, Caspian Osetra and Beluga caviar, tuna carpaccio and Sapa foie gras are but some of the options available.

The menus themselves vary as well. VINE’s menus include a la carte, young gourmets, daily Chef Delicacies, gastronomic wine dinners, delivery, weekend brunch, breakfast and lunch.

THE SPACE AND SERVICE

The restaurant is one the most visually dramatic and unique spaces in Hanoi. Its design and decoration have been likened to an “upscale bistro in San Francisco but with better prices” by Frommers. It has been called “stylish” by Forbes, “ripe, rustic and relaxed” by Luxe Guides, and “urban bohemian…picture Batman’s lair meets Lady and the Tramp…a refreshing take on intimate dining” by Heratige Fashion Magazine. Destin Asia has said it has a “café-like feel, but with a touch of sleek urbanity”. From the wall of wine to Vietnam’s best-stocked cellar where patrons can drink wine and dine at the Chef’s Table under dimmed lights, candles and music, the ambiance and decor are both refined and comfortable. VINE’s walls are decorated with paintings by Fam Luc, a national treasure of Vietnam who was commissioned to create paintings expressing the beauty of wine and the fellowship of its consumption.

Service at VINE is warm, relaxed and refined. Recognizing that knowledgeable servers are good servers, VINE offers regular training courses for its staff while caring for its members as a family. Turnover has been remarkably low, and many of the team have been on board since day one.

FEATURES

VINE also offers an exceptional array of catering and events planning for as many as 1,000 people. Events have ranged from the Apec leaders summit at the Temple of literature to a private ten-person dinner at the Ambassador’s home.

Technology is widely applied throughout VINE with an Apple Computer-based music sound system, and all VINE establishments are free wi-fi zones. The music variety includes jazz, light rock, reggae, Cuban, electonica, 80’s, 90’s mixes, Vietnamese, French, African, Spanish, Latin, classic, country and more.

VINE offers informed advice on its wine and related products and a variety of retail wines, fine liquors and accessories.
